Arta Rostami Ravari, Managing Director of RMJM Arta Tehran, has been selected to act as one of five judges at the Architecture Competition for the design of Jazmooryan National Museum in Kerman Province, Iran. The news follows a whirlwind 12 months for RMJM Arta Tehran who were appointed to design the Iran Historical Car Museum and are now working on a series of other projects in the country.
Organised by the Cultural Institute of Bonyad Museums, the judging panel of five is comprised of prominent Iranian architects including Darab Diba and Iraj Etesam, and will seek to reward the very best in Iranian architecture. The new museum will celebrate the ancient Jazmooryan civilization which emerged in South East Iran around the last of Hamon Jazmooryan in today’s Kerman Province. The museum itself will host a large collection of artefacts revealing all aspects of life, helping to promote awareness of this forgotten civilization. Acting as a cultural and educational centre for the local community, the museum will preserve the local, social, artistic and historical identity of the area and offer something unique to the region.
Arta’s expertise in museums aligns with her will to merge modern Iran with its historic roots. She has previously said, “We are linked inextricably to the past even as we move forward with new technology and design processes. Architecture in Iran has the chance to offer the best of both worlds.”
