Competition

This competition aimed at selecting the best investment design in the vicinity of the birthplace of Fryderyk Chopin in Żelazowa Wola, Poland. The conceptual design had to take into account the spatial relationship between Chopin’s birthplace and the surrounding park. It had to specifically adapt to the initial function of the site, i.e. the Park-Memorial created in the 1920s and 1930s to commemorate the great artist.

Its outline dimensions had to organically integrate the landscape without dominating it and still exude the design’s own identity. The topography, architectural context of the interwar Park-Memorial and vegetation creating time-varying compositions were all references for the design project. It is because of this context that the aesthetic value of the proposal and its symbiosis with the surrounding landscape is of particular importance. The Investment also met the requirements of sustainable development.
