The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey commissioned the firm to design a new state-of-the-art Comprehensive Cancer Centre in Newark. The Cancer Centre and Research Lab includes clinical, administrative, support and research spaces, including wet laboratories, lab support space and core cross-departmental lab facilities.

The facility combines flexible, efficient laboratory work areas with the latest features in technological research, resulting in highly sophisticated cancer research laboratories. The Centre also houses outpatient treatment areas for the treatment of both adult and pediatric cancer patients.

The fenestration provides a wide spectrum of views and allows for extensive use of natural light, while the use of high ceilings and glass in the interior design allows for a sense of airiness and abundant space.

The Cancer Centre enhances the overall texture of the campus as a whole by complementing its surroundings while creating a strong statement. This location provides convenient access to existing radiation oncology, animal research and loading dock facilities. In addition, the firm assisted UMDNJ in acquiring funding from the National Institute of Health.
