Assistant Construction Project Manager / Resident Engineer

RMJM is currently seeking an Assistant to the Construction Project Manager/Resident Engineer to join our team and contribute to the continued growth of our Dubai Studio. In this role, you will provide critical support in overseeing project management activities and serve as the essential point of contact during the construction phase. Leveraging your comprehensive knowledge of the UAE market and various construction disciplines, you will assist in managing staff, schedules, budgets, risks, quality, and contractual aspects to ensure the successful delivery of projects for our clients.

Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:

  • Work closely with the Construction Project Manager/Resident Engineer to ensure smooth project operations.
  • Demonstrate a robust background in civil construction, with expertise in multiple areas considered a plus.
  • Collaborate in leading construction management efforts and play a pivotal role in project delivery.
  • Assist in directing and meticulously assessing the overall planning of construction activities to identify critical milestones and priorities.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of efficient office and field procedures.
  • Support the review and analysis of engineering-related materials, reports, documents, plans, and specifications.
  • Assist in preparing and presenting contract administrative tasks, including reports, pay quantity calculations, estimates, labor compliance reviews, change orders, claims review and resolution, and schedules.
  • Contribute to significant determinations regarding contract administration.
  • Collaborate in coordinating all construction personnel, including Assistant Resident Engineers, Construction Inspectors, Office/Field Engineers, MEP Engineers, Planer Material Testers, Sub-consultant Staff, and Administrative/Project Personnel.
  • Collaborate in possessing knowledge of pertinent contract documents specific to the project.
  • Assist with scope of work changes, ensuring that contractors adhere to approved plans and specifications.
  • Support the composition of clear and concise reports and correspondence.
  • Contribute to sound engineering judgment and follow through on determinations made during oversight of all field operations.
  • Collaborate in resolving or facilitating the resolution of discrepancies or problems with contract documents and issues arising from field operations.
  • Apply technical knowledge to support comprehensive constructability analysis and review construction documents.
  • Assist in reviewing and providing input on contractor schedules, developing schedule mitigations to keep the project on track.
  • Collaborate in reporting the project status to the client on a monthly basis.
  • Assist in preparing and/or reviewing cost and risk analyses and extra work claims for the client.
  • Offer assistance in analyzing claims and providing recommendations for the client.
  • Collaborate in maintaining a strong client relationship as a primary contact.
  • Assist in managing the project in accordance with the standard safety and quality assurance requirements for the client.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience overseeing major heavy civil construction sites.
  • Supervisory experience in managing major heavy civil construction contracts.
  • Experience with alternative delivery methods, such as Design-Build and Progressive Design-Build.
  • Proven ability to effectively assist in managing teams and communicating with clients.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.
