RMJM was commisioned by Kamer Insaat Tic. ve San. Ltd. for facade design and interior design services of Grand Pera Retail and Cinema in Istanbul.
The development comprises two neighboring buildings, one old building which will have been restored and renovated and a new one on top of which EMEK Cinema is placed. These are situated in the middle of Istiklal Caddesi in Pera, the most noted, crowded, touristic and commercial road of Istanbul.
The existing buildings, the surrounding exterior facade and EMEK Cinema have a special historical value.
The design proposal is working within this context to provide a new building by respecting and highlighting this historical value and creating a contemporary passage.
