RMJM East Africa through Symbion Uganda was commissioned to redesign & manage the construction of this headquarters for Rwanda’s Political Party, the Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF).
The site is located within Gasabo district and comprises a large Conference hall to accommodate 2600 people at full capacity; Secretariat & several support buildings. The development sits on 27 acres with a commitment towards beautiful landscaping, locally crafted sculptures, inspired water features, a variety of local plant life and sufficient parking space. The proposal includes multi-functional lawns which will allow for public events, state of the art security considerations and the latest in Audio-visual solutions.
Striking architectural features are highlighted by the use of local materials such as granite cladding, straw-textured render/paint & natural stone pavers. Provision for a water treatment plant and irrigation system further enhance the element of sustainability to the project. The main Conference building pays tribute to Kigali’s modern era; a domed roof has been fabricated out of steel, smoothly cladded and flanked by drop off canopies as an extension of the building’s form into the landscape. The interiors collate an array of the region’s rich and festive culture by way of bright colours, traditional patterns & characteristic finishes.
