Fusion is a 200 unit residential development with commercial units. The site for this project spans the city block, which is contained between Oswald Street and Robertson Street. RMJM’s proposal was to cut this unusually large block in half by turning the new 200 units residential development inward, creating a new square and a public through route. This has opened up a new East/West pedestrian link between the shopping district and the new financial quarter.
RMJM worked closely with internationally acclaimed artist Peter McCaughey to develop an integrated public art installation. Peter’s line of light installation is a response to the bi-secting of the urban block and also describes the path taken by pedestrians passing through the space.
