Faced with the combined challenge of offering a growing number of patients a wider array of healthcare services, Penn State selected RMJM to design a new student health and counselling centre for its campus in State College, Pennsylvania. The new 6,131 m² building is located between student dormitories, academic buildings, and sports facilities, enabling ease of access from any point on campus. Located in a place of prominence on campus, the facility reiterates the University’s strong commitment to student health and wellness, while creating a welcoming environment for student treatment and education.
The glass front and central location create an inviting, informal space where students may drop-in and schedule an appointment on their way to class. While passing through, students can grab a cup of coffee and be informally introduced to all the health related resources available to them such as online appointment set-up, a full-service pharmacy, health education resource library and seminar conferencing area.
