Situated approximately 20 Km west of the capital city, Tehran, the Iran Historical Car Museum currently houses one of the largest and most valuable car collections in the region, comprising sports cars, limousines, motorcycles and carriages owned by the last Shah of the Pahlavi Dynasty, Mohammad Reza Shah.

The client appointed RMJM to transform the existing warehouses into a museum and hence define a new character for the existing complex in which visitors could experience a vivid recreational and historical atmosphere.

The complex includes 10 warehouses of 900 m² each (30×30), located on a 22,000 m² site.

The concept for the Iran Historical Car Museum, seeks to create an atmosphere where cars are seen as an historical emblem. History is not linear and the past is mixed with the present. The linear corridors designed along the display paths function as transitional spaces. In this sense, the museum becomes a place where visitors can experience the passing of the time and witness how present follows the past.
