Overview

RMJM completed a masterplanning study for the University of Bedfordshire in 2010.

As a product of this study, a first phase building was proposed to provide ‘student facing’ services at a location at the centre of the Park Square Campus in Luton. Intended to dramatically enhance the student experience, the scheme delivered flexible space for social and support functions along with some generic teaching facilities.

A vital part of the project was the creation of an external space to act as a social focus for the wider campus.

The design team took great care to design a sustainable low energy building that is naturally ventilated, sensitive to the local townscape and achieved BREEAM ‘very good’ status.
