Overview

The Eastern Gateway project is the fourth in the series of projects commissioned by Brunel University, following the Health Sciences Building, the Engineering Building and the Chancellery.

The complex provides a new front door to the University, conference facilities including a multi-purpose public facing auditorium, a new home for Brunel Business School, and an art gallery, cafe and associated social facilities.

The brief called for a striking building which would develop the corporate identity and brand of the university and signpost the architectural quality of the campus from the public realm.

Predominantly naturally ventilated, the complex was designed to achieve a BREEAM “Excellent” rating and forms part of a long term development plan for Brunel. A future phase of the development has been safeguarded in the planning of the site.
