Overview

The design for North Glasgow College, a 2009 RIBA award winner, creates a strong contemporary identity for the college and provides a state-of-the-art learning resource centre, conference facilities and a fully equipped sports hall which form the social heart of the college campus.

The two elements of the college – academic teaching spaces and technical workshops – have been expressed as separate forms linked with a glazed corridor, creating interest and architectural tension.

Welcoming public space around the development is enhanced by contemporary landscape design and artwork creating new connections to the surrounding areas and the Springburn rail station.

Over its 40 year history, North Glasgow College has built up strong links with the local community and this building aims to further enhance these links by providing facilities that will encourage increased community and public use.
