The brief was simple yet ambitious. The developer, Beyond Group, wanted to create a landmark Design Centre for the city and for the province. The site is at the gateway between the old town of Ningbo and the Eastern New Town District. It is on the southern edge Financial Centre of the Eastern New Town. There was no detailed brief presented by the developer. They were interested to see what was possible. Through an interview process the developer was engaged on all aspects of the creation of a Design Centre.
The majority of the space would be office space further divided into general office space, design studios, co-working and collaborative spaces. To support this there would be retail areas, hotels, media centres, showrooms and convention spaces. The above ground building GFA is 53,000sqm and there are two basement floors totalling 17,000sqm of area.
