Overview

The 2,851 m² Public Information Centre forms part of EDF Energy’s proposal for a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C Nuclear Power Station. The centre is designed as a four storey free standing structure on an elevated site and specifically located to provide panoramic views across the proposed new station, the Severn estuary and beyond to the Quantock Hills.

The brief for the building was to create a fully accessible information, education and exhibition centre.

Four inter-linked exhibition spaces spiral through the building united by the central atrium and orientation space. The design incorporates a number of sustainability measures. The BREEAM Predictive assessment of the design showed that a BREEAM Excellent rating would be achieved.
